The SystOHm COST Action (Systems Thinking for One Health Implementation) aims to tackle the complex, interconnected challenges of human, animal, and ecosystem health—issues underscored by the COVID-19 pandemic and crises such as ecosystem degradation, food insecurity, pollution, emerging diseases, and climate change. Recognizing the limitations of current methods for addressing such multifaceted challenges, this initiative seeks to advance systems thinking as a core principle for implementing the One Health approach.
The project focuses on developing a unified, practical methodological framework through:
Identifying research and implementation needs.
Critically reviewing and piloting innovative methods.
Fostering co-created, transdisciplinary solutions by engaging researchers and stakeholders.
By building a robust network of collaborators and future research leaders, SystOHm aims to establish long-lasting, impactful solutions that address the needs of end users and advance excellence in One Health implementation.
ASPHER’s Climate and Health Working Group is proud to be a partner in this initiative. We are optimistic about the project’s acceptance and look forward to contributing to its mission of fostering sustainable, systems-based solutions in One Health practice.
