ASPHER Annual Conference 2010

3rd European Public Health Conference
10-13 November, Amsterdam (The Netherlands)
Conference Announcement

3rd European Public Health Conference, comprising the ASPHER 32nd Annual Conference, will take place in Amsterdam (The Netherlands), 10-13 November 2010. The central theme of the conference is: Integrated Public Health. Integration – making something into a whole or making something part of a whole - is a key issue in European public health. Integration is believed to be an important prerequisite to address the major challenges of today’s public health systems across Europe such as the growing epidemic of chronic diseases, the potential threat of new infectious diseases, the clustering of social, physical, environmental and behavioural determinants of health, the economic crisis, and the workforce crisis.

Integration is then associated with bringing together of people, disciplines, organisations, sectors, communities, and societies. As such, integration is an inherent aspect of public health given its definition: “Public health is the science and art of preventing disease, prolonging life and promoting health through the organised efforts and informed choices of society, organisations, public and private, communities and individuals.” Find out more abouth the Conference 2010, here.

ASPHER Annual Conference 2008
hosted by the National School of Public Health, Lisbon New University.

1st European Public Health Conference
05-08 November, Lisbon (Portugal)
Conference Announcement

In 2008, the ASPHER and EUPHA conferences were combined for the very first time under the title of the First European Public Health Conference. Whilst both organisations held separate programmes within the event, there were also a number of joint activities at the conference. The main theme of the ASPHER conference was Innovation and modernization of education in research in Public Health. Overall, the conference was considered a huge success. One of its most important achievements was to allow many participants to gain a combined view of both ASPHER's and EUPHA's priority areas. Most significantly, EUPHA members were able to learn about training and education in Public Health as represented by ASPHER. At the same time, ASPHER members had access to the latest results in research and practice. This interaction will no doubt facilitate and increase international networking by and among participants of both conferences in the future.
