Milena Pavlova is Professor of Health Economics and Equity at the Department of Health Services Research, Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences at Maastricht University. Her research and teaching focus on health care financing, with particular attention to equity, quality, health insurance systems, formal and informal patient payments, and the application of stated preference methods such as willingness-to-pay techniques and discrete choice experiments. She has been involved in many international projects. Through these collaborations, she has built an extensive global network of social science researchers working on health systems and equity. She joined the Editorial Board of the academic journal BMC Health Services Research in 2013. In recognition of her contributions to the field, she also received the AXA Award for successful mid-career researchers in 2016. Milena Pavlova is the chair of the ASPHER Economic Evaluation and Equity in Healthcare working group.
