ASPHER-led EUHPP Joint Statement and Working Group on Climate and Health
30 May 2022

Dear ASPHER Members,

In light of European Public Health Week's theme of today, "Climate change affects our health", we are highlighting the recently published joint statement on climate change and health education.

The joint statement by the ASPHER-led EU Health Policy Platform's thematic network on "Climate action through public health education and training" was presented by ASPHER President John Middleton on Thursday 5 May at the EUHPP annual meeting.

We received a great deal of positive feedback from the European Commission's DG SANTE, DG CLIMA and the European Environment Agency, stating "the joint statement led by ASPHER has been the first successful attempt to involve the stakeholder community around this topic with the aim at creating synergy with existing policies".

We would like to once again thank all ASPHER members and partners involved in writing and supporting the statement!

The full statement is available here: https://www.aspher.org/download/1097/che_euhpp-2022_statement_2504-aspher.pdf

The statement has already received over 75 endorsements, but there is still time to add your institution's endorsement until the end of May! Please reach out to ASPHER Fellows Rana Orhan (rana.orhan@aspher.org) or Tara Chen (tara.chen@aspher.org).

Following the statement, we are setting up the ASPHER Working Group on Climate Change and Health. We would like to invite interested members to join the working group. The first, orientation meeting will take place on Wednesday 15 June at 17.00-18.00 CEST. Read more and register via: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZEucuCopz4sGt0aFWk9jiMwkAV3b-uiBswC

Best regards,
Rana, Tara & the ASPHER Secretariat
