The public health and care research leadership programme is designed to support future leaders in the field of public health and care research to become excellent leaders with a mission.

The 2-year programme starting in July 2023 consists of 4 modules (Two 2,5 day modules per year). All sessions have a highly interactive character and work through experiential learning with elements of theory.

The 2022 Andrija Štampar Medal has been awarded to Dr. Laurent Chambaud, former Dean of EHESP French School of Public Health.

Dr Laurent Chambaud has a long and recognized career in public health with responsibilities in different countries, intense work in research and training of public health professionals - reflected in leading one of the great international schools. He has a humanist vision of public health and, in particular, has contributed persistent and consistent work on behalf of ASPHER and APHEA. He shares his experience and enthusiasm with the most diverse members of the public health community, promoting bridges between institutions and people. Dr Chambaud consolidates a style of leadership that has enormously benefited everyone at ASPHER.

In response to the war in Ukraine, ASPHER has convened a Task Force on War. 

The Task Force has published a Roadmap to Developing ASPHER Technical Guidance Notes on War and Health. The overall aim of this document is to outline a roadmap leading to the development of a series of technical guidance notes to inform the response of the ASPHER community to the Russian war on Ukraine.

Road Map to Professionalizing the Public Health Workforce

ASPHER and WHO have launched the Road Map to Professionalizing the Public Health Workforce. This Road Map offers pragmatic recommendations for action to professionalize the public health workforce as a response to growing public health needs; it puts forward levers that can be engaged to do so. It embraces, by necessity, a cross-sectoral and cross-disciplinary approach that provides clarity about the scope and the specific competencies required, identifies key action areas for professionals and identifies the roles of the various actors.
